Where is the package going??? The white DPD delivery van is on the highway with it and takes it to the next distribution point. The DPD (German Parcel Service) was founded in 1976 by 18 leading German freight forwarders.
Among the founding members were the Honold Logistik Gruppe, Hellmann (Osnabrück), Zufall (Göttingen), Streck Transport (Lörrach), Cordes & Simon (Hagen), TTF (Flensburg), Denkhaus (Koblen) and Zeitfracht (Berlin).
In the year of its founding, an impressive number of 1.4 million packages were recorded in Germany, which increased over the years up to 2006 to 2.5 million packages a day.
In 1999, the French postal company La Poste acquired 83.32% of the DPD parcel service and incorporated the transport company into its subsidiary Geopost.
The proven and well-known name DPD was retained and individual state-specific Geopost branches were expanded.
